If you’re wondering how to find customers, then a great place to start is by turning to those you know. Don’t be afraid to promote your business to your friends, family, coworkers, etc.

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Closed mouths don’t get fed.” And if you haven’t it means if you want something then you have to speak up and make it known. You have to start somewhere so it might as well be with loved ones.

If you’re thinking to yourself they won’t support you. That’s just the imposter syndrome kicking in and we don’t subscribe to that type of negativity! The worst they can say is No and just because they’re not interested right now doesn’t mean they won’t be in the future.

Use this as an opportunity to get feedback from them and use it to your advantage to improve your business. Also, see if they know someone who may need your services or products. There’s no harm in asking.

2. Social Media

The great thing about social media is that there are over 1 billion users on different platforms. This means that you have more potential to reach your ideal target audience than if you didn’t use social media. And if you’re not using social media as part of your marketing plan then ask yourself, why not?

The key to using social media to find customers is to engage with your target audience but Don’t Be Salesy at the same time, people hate that. Below are other ways you can find customers through social media:

  • Advertise your business on social media (Costs will vary)
  • Join Facebook groups related to your niche
  • Engage in conversations outside of your page and group that is associated with your field. You never know who’ll see your comments.
  • Create and share fun and educational content. If it relates to your potential customers they will comment.
  • Use hashtags related to the picture and your industry.

3. Networking

A great way to find customers is by going to networking events or joining associations relevant to your field. You’d be amazed at the number of people you can meet. When you network with other entrepreneurs in your field it can lead to finding new customers. Entrepreneurs may refer clients to your business for numerous reasons:

  • They’re too busy to take on new clients,
  • They are feeling under the weather and can’t take any clients.
  • The entrepreneur may not have the expertise in an area but knows that you do.
